As part of its commitment to 'investing in local', Westpac has established a new elite banking team - dedicated to servicing only the migrant and expatriate market.
The new team will look after this significant multicultural segment - a group which Westpac describes as being vital to its future plans.
Speaking at yesterday's Westpac Broker Roadshow in Sydney, GM for mortgage broker distribution Tony MacRae told a room full of brokers that Westpac is looking to establish specific processes and policies for the new team "that will align and help grow this key and growing market."
He said Westpac has increased its investment in initiatives taken to ensure that it is the leading financial services company in Australia.
"But particularly that we are the leading financial services company in the local areas where you work, and you represent," he said.
Earlier in the year MacRae launched Westpac's by-invitation-only top tier broker segment program, Platinum.
"Brokers are an important business partner at a local level, with around 45% of the banks mortgages delivered via the mortgage broker channel," he said at the time of the launch.
