John Symond, founder of Aussie Home Loans, is the 8th most influential Australian in the last 60 years, an online poll has found.
The Australian Financial Review asked readers to find the most influential business, economic and political leaders, as they chose from a list of around 40 names on the AFR Facebook page.
Prime Ministers took out five of the top six spots; upset only by Rupert Murdoch, arguably Australia's most successful business leader.
Symond and Murdoch are the only two on the list that still hold the positions that made them famous, according to the AFR.
Others on the list include Paul Keating and Bob Hawke; who engineered much financial reform in Australia.
